The manager and player has a massive falling out back in September after Ten Hag publicly criticised the winger’s efforts in training.
Sancho hit back at the Dutchman on social media, claiming that he had been made a scapegoat and later refused to apologise for his comments.
As a result, the England International hasn’t made an appearance since and has been frozen out of the first-team and made to train alone.
There have been some suggestions he could come back, especially given the Red Devils’ struggles and speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s future.
But all signs seem to be pointing toward a January exit, with Juventus reportedly keen on signing the 23-year-old as well as fellow United outcasts Raphael Varane and Donny van de Beek.
The whole debacle has divided opinion, with some reports suggesting that even members of the United squad disagree with Ten Hag’s methods.
The manager himself has largely refused to elaborate on the matter but he recently opened up a little after being asked if he would have done anything differently regarding his treatment of Sancho.
‘No, I would not do anything different,’ he told the independent fanzine United We Stand.
Given United’s mixed form and speculation that the players are losing faith in their manager, Ten Hag’s position could well be at risk, especially with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority takeover on the horizon.
The United manager is always one of the most scrutinised jobs in world football, and Ten Hag also revealed that several close friends urged him to turn down Old Trafford.
‘I loved the teams of Sir Alex [Ferguson], that [1999 Champions League final] win in Barcelona. It was inspiring,’ he added.
A big, successful club was constructed, which then dropped in the last ten years.
‘Everyone was telling me, “You can’t succeed in that job”. They said it was impossible. Me? I wanted the challenge. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it was such a great club with such a great fanbase.
‘People love Man United – or they are against Man United. I like clubs like this. Ajax was like this. This job is the most difficult to do, but I want the challenge.’
