Man Utd fans call for Ten Hag to be fined after behaviour vs Everton

Manchester United fans have slammed Erik ten Hag for emerging late from the tunnel against Everton on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchman made his way to the dugout two minutes after the second half had started. And supporters think he should ‘fine’ himself for his lack of punctuality.

Ten Hag is known for his tough stance on discipline and recently dropped Marcus Rashford for oversleeping and missing a team meeting. He also reportedly fines players if they are not on time and has previously punished players for poor performances against Brentford and Liverpool this season.

But this time it was Ten Hag who was breaking the rules. One fan (@lifeofpk_) tweeted: “Ten Hag gotta fine himself.” Another (@Chatham253) wrote: “Ten Hag was late out of the tunnel. He have to take a s***?”

A third (@aadamCr7) joked: “He was still trying to figure out how AWB missed this,” in reference to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s open goal howler in the first half.

Overall, Ten Hag will be pleased with the display from his side despite a number of squandered chances. The Red Devils jump Tottenham into fourth place with a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford helped on by goals from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial.

Although there is cause for concern with star man Rashford limping off the pitch in the final ten minutes of the game. The 25-year-old has been in sensational form this season, bagging 15 goals and four assists in the league over the 2022/2023 campaign.

But could be set for a second stint on the sidelines this year. Rashford recently pulled out of the England squad because of a minor injury – and it looks as though the congested fixture list is playing its part.

The Everton match marked United’s third game in six days, having travelled to Newcastle last Sunday and Brentford on Wednesday. United then have two games next week against Sevilla, in the Europa League, and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

“We have to wait [on Rashford’s injury], it doesn’t look good. Once again, it’s due to the schedule, you can’t play three games in six days. We have to protect our players,” the United boss told BT Sport.

“Everyone wants the best players on the pitch, everyone wants to see great entertaining football like today. But you need your best players. It’s a win and we have to move on.”
