Man Utd given Joao Felix transfer hurry up as Aston Villa rivals try to pounce

Felix fell out of favour with Atletico last season, with his public fallout with manager Diego Simeone prompting the Spanish side to invite interest in their versatile forward. Numerous clubs enquired about acquiring his services, though Chelsea arrived with the most concrete loan offer – paying £9million in January for the spell.

Despite only finding the back of the net on four occasions in the Premier League, Felix is attracting interest once again as Atletico search for an exit plan for the 23-year-old. According to Spanish publication ABC, United have made it known that they are interested in signing the former Benfica star as they look to add depth to their forward ranks.

However, it has emerged that Villa are working hard to sign the Portuguese ace and have registered their interest, according to BirminghamLive. Paris Saint-Germain were previously cited as being keen on Felix – and they have the finances available to sign him permanently – but they have withdrawn from the race and are focusing on other targets.

Thus, at this stage, it appears to be Villa leading the charge to sign the playmaker and are hopeful of wrapping up a deal sooner rather than later in fear of rivals emerging. Felix is keen to play Champions League football next season, which United can provide him with, but he may be forced to compromise on that demand if other offers do not emerge.

Villa qualified for the Europa Conference League last season and Unai Emery is hoping to add quality to his ranks so that his side can push up the table in the upcoming campaign. United are also shopping for attacking recruits, with Erik ten Hag fearful of heading into next season without a true No 9.
