Manchester United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are all credited with an interest in Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, who is likely to leave on loan this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The 23-year-old is Atletico’s record signing after joining from Benfica in 2019 for an enormous £113m, but he has fallen out of favour after falling out with manager Diego Simeone.

This led to the Portugal international moving to Chelsea on loan in January this year, where he scored four goals in 16 Premier League appearances for the struggling Blues.

Spanish publication ABC, via Sport Witness, report that Felix is keen to move on again and has asked agent Jorge Mendes to secure a deal for him, although he only wants to move to a Champions League club.

The same report states that a loan deal is most likely as Felix’s transfer value has dropped considerably so Atletico hope a short-term move would see his price rise again for a future sale.

Manchester United, Newcastle and Aston Villa have all reportedly made contact over a possible deal, although there has been no offer as yet.

Villa will struggle to tempt Felix as they cannot offer Champions League football, but the Red Devils and the Magpies will be competing in Europe’s top competition this season.

ABC’s report claims the forward is ‘seduced’ by staying in the Premier League after his stint with Chelsea and could be a top class option for sides without having to splash out on a huge transfer fee.
