Tottenham will not sell Harry Kane to a Premier League rival this summer amid Manchester United’s interest in the striker.

Kane will enter the final 12 months of his contract in north London in June with Spurs hopeful of tying him down to a new contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The England captain is likely to face mounting speculation over his future in the coming months with United planning to make the signing of a new centre forward a top priority at the end of the season.

United have held long-term interest in Kane but according to Sky Sports, Kane’s preference is to remain at Tottenham providing they can demonstrate ambition to challenge for major trophies going forward.

Even if the club cannot agree a new contract with the 30-year-old, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will be an ‘obstructive negotiator’ should any clubs approach them over a summer deal.

United view Kane as a ‘guarantee of goals’, according to the report, but the club are not prepared to enter a long battle with Spurs.

United have identified a number of options to come in and lead the line including Kane but are also considering moves for younger options, chiefly Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

Benfica star Goncalo Ramos and Benjamin Sesko are also on the club’s radar.

Manchester City saw four bids for Kane rejected in the summer of 2021 with the club now well-stocked up front with Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

With alternative Premier League options limited, Bayern Munich is one possible destination with Spurs favouring a move abroad should they fail to convince him to stay in the capital.

Kane could leave Spurs on a free transfer in 2024 but even with just 12 months left on his deal this summer, former United captain Gary Neville would be happy to see his former side stump up £100m for his services in time for next season.

‘I think if you said to Manchester United right now with the fact that they’ve got no centre forward at all hardly; ‘£100m for Harry Kane?’ they would snap your hands off,’ Neville told The Overlap.

‘If you said to United now £100m for Harry Kane they would snap your hands off.‘
