Man Utd ‘prioritising three deals’ after Rasmus Hojlund with bid imminent

Manchester United will reportedly turn attention to the signing of Sofyan Amrabat while also focusing their efforts on offloading Fred and Donny van de Beek once they have wrapped up a deal for Rasmus Hojlund. The Atalanta frontman is currently in Erik ten Hag’s crosshairs and the Red Devils are expected to launch their first official move for the 20-year-old Dane by the end of the week following the arrival of Andre Onana.

Hojlund wants to join United but is also being courted by Paris Saint-Germain, meaning United will have to get a move on to conclude the deal.

Nonetheless, the arrival of Hojlund would not necessarily spell the end of their summer transfer activity, either as there could still be more incomings and outgoings before September 1.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United will look to offload Fred and Van de Beek once they have landed Hojlund so they can also push to sign Amrabat from Fiorentina.

The World Cup semi-finalist is rated highly at Old Trafford but so far, United are yet to open talks over a deal this summer despite showing interest in January.

In Italy, there has already been lots of speculation in regards to United’s supposed interest and some outlets even claim a deal is close.

But Romano is adamant United will have to continue to sell in order to buy as they do not have an endless pot of cash.

The priorities in the summer window for Ten Hag have been a new central midfielder, goalkeeper and centre-forward and any new arrivals beyond that are dependent on exits.

United may also have several other gaps within the squad that need replacing with the likes of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay attracting interest from West Ham.

Dean Henderson is also wanted by Nottingham Forest meaning a second goalkeeper signing could also be necessary.

It appears United may still need to win over Amrabat though before a transfer materialises, even if they agree a fee with Fiorentina.

That’s because speaking back in June, the player’s brother and ex-Watford winger Nordin Amrabat claimed the Fiorentina man was leaning towards a move to Spain.

He was asked by ESPN NL: “Would your brother [Sofyan Amrabat] be interested in playing for West Ham?”

Nordin replied: “No, my brother wants to go to the top, and his desire is to play in Spain.”

The 36-year-old AEK Athens winger also added: “I don’t want to be arrogant, but a top 10 club in the world with a nice background would be realistic.

“After the World Cup, I know for sure that he is ready for it. At Barcelona, he is high on the list, but you know Barca’s financial situation.”

United do now look to be at the front of the queue for Amrabat but they must also find buyers for Fred and Van de Beek before they can sign off the move which is likely to cost upwards of £25m.
