During his press conference after the draw, Schreuder also seemingly sent an indirect message, or plea, to the Ajax board over his stance on Antony’s future. He has also lost Sebastien Haller to Borussia Dortmund and Lisandro Martinez in a £57m deal to United, meaning the club aren’t desperate for an influx of cash and can’t afford to lose too many more prominent stars.
“€80M is a lot of money; €100M is also a lot of money,” Schreuder said. “But I explained that we already sold a lot of players, so it wouldn’t be good if we sold another one. Antony is not training with the group, but I do see him every day. Nothing has changed since last Sunday. We don’t have a deadline. But I am assuming Antony will stay. He has a contract at Ajax.”
