Wan-Bissaka has been an unused substitute in United’s opening two games of the season, with Diogo Dalot preferred in defence, and has been linked with a transfer for most of the summer.
And despite the team losing both games, conceding six goals in the process, Ten Hag still has no plans to bring the 24-year-old back into the fold, with the club hoping to offload him and sign a new right back before the window closes in around two weeks’ time.
According to The Telegraph, that replacement could be Meunier who ironically was on United’s shortlist three years ago before they opted to sign Wan-Bissaka for £50million instead.
Meunier, who turns 31 next month, could cost around €15m (£12.6m) and while he has been linked with a move to Barcelona as well, it remains unclear whether Dortmund are willing to sell the Belgian international who made just 17 league appearances last season.
United have also been linked with Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, who is free to leave the Nou Camp, setting up what will surely be a chaotic and scattershot conclusion to the transfer window.
As for Wan-Bissaka, Palace are said to be considering bringing their academy graduate back to Selhurst Park either on loan or on a permanent deal.
However, the Eagles are only willing to pay £10m for the player which, if accepted, would represent an enormous and embarrassing loss for the Red Devils.
This summer has been a nightmare for United, with only three major signings made at the time of writing and with many of the problem areas in the squad still not addressed.
Furthermore, Ten Hag’s top transfer target Frenkie de Jong is looking increasingly unlikely to move from Barcelona to Old Trafford, while a deal for Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot has also collapsed, leading to United now trying to sign Real Madrid’s Casemiro.
