Man Utd star breaks silence on hospitalising Paul Mullin as Wrexham boss furious

Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has issued a public apology to Paul Mullin. The pair came together in a sickening pre-season collision, with the Wrexham striker given treatment on the pitch and later sent to hospital for checks after suffering a punctured lung.

Bishop and Mullin were both going after the ball when the Wrexham man took a painful blow in his kidney region. Mullin was substituted midway through the first half, walking off under his own steam after receiving medical attention for just shy of 10 minutes.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson was furious after the final whistle, advising Bishop to ‘stay away’ from his team. “I’m fuming about it, I’ve got to be honest with you,” he said.

“It was a clumsy, reckless challenge in a pre-season game and I’m not happy with it at all. I haven’t seen the goalie and he’s probably best steering clear of us for the time being because we’re not very happy.”

Bishop himself has since spoken out on the incident, addressing Mullin directly on Twitter by writing: “Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to @PMullin7.

“A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with zero malicious intent at all! Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible!”

With Erik ten Hag setting out a young side – aside from Jonny Evans – the fourth-tier outfit sealed an impressive 3-1 victory in San Diego. United were saving many of their big hitters for an upcoming friendly against Real Madrid.

New goalkeeper Andre Onana could make his debut against Los Blancos, while United are still working hard to make further acquisitions, with Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat both in the crosshairs.
