The battle to take charge of Manchester United continues between Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe with the new Premier League season only weeks away as the Glazers begin to feel the pressure of closing a deal. The American owners put the club up for sale in November and, through a stressful and prolonged process, they have found two bidders that have gone the distance, but Sheikh Jassim is yet to conclude a deal despite reports that an announcement was imminent that he would be the preferred bidder.
The Qatari has made five bids for United and is currently considered the frontrunner, with the billionaire a supporter of the club, with his Nine Two Foundation unveiling major plans to back Erik ten Hag in the transfer market and bring former heroes back in the hierarchy.
But Ratcliffe can’t be ruled out either, with the INEOS chief confirming earlier in the week that he was still interested. His deal would ensure the Glazers retain some control at Old Trafford – a scenario that won’t be favourable in the eyes of the fans.
As long as the process remains open, the future of Manchester United remains up in the air until US financial firm Raine make a decision on which direction to go in.
