Danny Murphy has suggested Erik ten Hag overused Marcus Rashford before the Manchester United suffered a muscle injury against Everton at the weekend.
Rashford is now set to miss several weeks of action as he recovers from the issue – something Murphy believes Ten Hag could have helped prevent from happening.
Murphy told talkSPORT: “He’s been incredible, hasn’t he? Their biggest goal threat, their main man this season so that’s good news in a way that he’s not going to be out until the end of the season, definitely.
“So many big games yet to come. I know there’s been a thought process around the fixture schedule and playing too many games, Ten Hag has spoken about it but, you’ve got to manage your players accordingly, you’ve got to know.
“There’s lots of games United have cruised in and lots of games where he could have brought Rashford off earlier, the Everton game a great example.
“They were winning that game all day every day, weren’t they? They battered them. He didn’t have to leave him on, why leave him on?”
