Erik ten Hag has been handed a major transfer boost after the Glazers confirmed they will be increasing his transfer budget to £170million, according to reports. The Dutchman originally only had £120m to work with and spent almost half of that on Mason Mount.
With United in desperate need of a new goalkeeper and a No 9, there were concerns that Ten Hag wouldn’t be able to bring in both of his top targets; Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund for just £65m. But with an extra £50m slapped onto the budget, he now has the financial firepower to get the deals done.
United and Inter Milan have agreed a £47.2m for Onana and are now on the verge of signing the goalkeeper. Meanwhile, a price hike from Atalanta for Hojlund from £34m to £51m will no longer be a problem for Ten Hag.
United had offered at least three players in a part exchange deal for Hojlund but will now be able to pay the fee in full should they wish to.
