Having slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford this season, Maguire started just eight league games for the club this season with three Premier League sides interested in signing him this summer.
Newcastle are among them but according to The Sun, Eddie Howe’s side have been told they must buy the England international with a loan move not an option.
Aston Villa are also interested in the former Leicester City star with the report suggesting United would be more receptive to a loan offer from Unai Emery’s side.
Tottenham meanwhile have also been credited with interest in the 30-year-old but are yet to make their intentions known.
Maguire lost his place in Erik ten Hag’s side at the start of the season with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane the manager’s first-choice pairing.
Victor Lindelof was also the Dutchman’s preferred option during the final stages of the season with left-back Luke Shaw also selected ahead of Maguire on a number of occasions.
Ten Hag recently suggested his skipper is not happy with the situation and opened the door for him to leave Old Trafford this summer.
‘No one would be happy with this situation. ‘He is not as well. He trains always on best levels, so with 100 per cent effort,’ Ten Hag said.
So he handles that situation well and he’s in that manner and in his captaincy he’s important for the squad.’
Asked if Maguire will stay, ten Hag added: ‘Let’s say I’m happy he’s here and when we needed him he did his job. But it’s also a decision he has to make.’
United are thought to be working on a deal to sign Napoli star Kim Min-Jae and could cash in on Maguire to help fund that move.
