Manchester United are still a juggernaut of the English game, but there’s no denying that fall from grace in recent years has dented their pulling power.
The last thing they need ahead of a huge summer in the transfer market is for the club to disillusion any potential targets.
With the club set to be in the market for an elite midfielder in the summer, it’s not out of the question that players like Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, two of the names who are reportedly at the top of United’s summer shopping list, could be put off by the way players are being treated at Old Trafford right now.
Why would they put themselves at risk of going through a similar nightmare in Manchester when they’ll likely have a whole host of European heavyweights cueing up for their signature?
United can hardly use their last big-money summer signing, Jadon Sancho, as an example to persuade any targets to join the club this summer, either.
