The Red Devils have already played three friendlies on their tour of America, beating Arsenal before losing to Wrexham and Real Madrid.
There is one more contest to come, with Erik ten Hag’s men taking on Borussia Dortmund on Monday in Las Vegas, Nevada with the new Premier League season now just a couple of weeks away.
The Red Devils are looking to get whatever edge they can over their top flight rivals and are looking to find out everything they can about their squad during their pre-season travels.
The Telegraph report that glucose monitors are being worn as the club conduct a ‘fuelling study’ and come up with individual nutrition strategies for each player.
Patches are also attached to the players to monitor where and how much they sweat, adding to another study which is analysing the squad’s levels of hydration, sweat rate and body composition.
The Manchester Evening News report that the club’s chef, Omar Meziane, has also been making a difference since he arrived from the FA in January.
Meziane has also been involved in the ‘individualised approach’ that the club are concentrating on to get the best out of each player.
The MEN reports: ‘Meziane always travels ahead of the squad by one day to ensure the food is at the highest standard ahead of their arrival.’
It’s a busy time for everyone at the club on and off the pitch with two more friendlies to come when they return from the States, taking on Lens in Manchester on 5 August and Athletic Bilbao in Dublin the following day.
