But at the moment, it seems only two parties are in the run to acquire the Red Devils. Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe were the final two contenders and they have submitted a third bid for the acquisition of the club ahead of the deadline.

According to The Athletic, both parties were asked to present a third offer by 10 pm GMT on Friday (April 28), and both have obliged with a revised bid. Glazer family values Manchester United at around £6 billion.

In the first round of the bids back in February, both Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe are not thought to have crossed the £5 billion mark. Both parties were given extra time to revise their offer and the deadline for another bid was extended last month as well.

Sheikh Jassim is a Qatari royal who is the son of former Qatar Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. Jim Ratcliffe is the founder of the petrochemical company INEOS. The two parties are currently in the reckoning for the Red Devils coup.

Sheikh Jassim bid for Man United

Reports say the Qatari party have now made a bid north of the previous £5 billion offer. It also reportedly includes a plan to invest further significant amount to improve the infrastructure at Man United. Furthermore, the bid also includes an agreement to clear out Man United’s £741 million loan.

Is Jim Ratcliffe still in contention?

Ratcliffe is significantly behind the race as his initial offer was to acquire 69 per cent of United’s shares. It is unknown whether the INEOS founder upped the bid or made any significant change, but it looks like Qatari Royals are in the driver’s seat.

Despite the drama regarding the Man United takeover, there is still a massive possibility that the Glazers may not sell United at all. Many experts in the Football industry say they may stall from selling the club if they don’t achieve the 6 billion pounds asking price.

In that case, the Red Devils will still be in the grasp of the American family irrespective of the intense bidding war.
