Manchester United have transformed into a competitive side under manager Erik ten Hag as the club didn’t just defeat Newcastle United with comfort in Carabao Cup final to end six-year trophy drought but also knocked out FC Barcelona to reach the Europa League round of 16.
Ten Hag has already stressed that winning trophies is crucial for a club of Manchester United’s stature and the FA Cup, along with Europa League, remain among their realistic bid for a few more titles by the end of the season.
Manchester United are currently on a 10-match unbeaten run in all competition and defeated Reading in the fourth round of the FA Cup to set up a rendezvous with West Ham.
The last time they faced West Ham in FA Cup was in February 2021 and the Red Devils had to fight until extra time to take the game 1-0. However, they did lose to West Ham 1-0 in EFL Cup later that year.
West Ham, at the moment, are not looking like the side that can defeat an in-form Manchester United. They come to the game losing to Nottingham Forest 0-4 in the Premier League at the weekend. They also suffered a 0-2 defeat to Tottenham in the match before that.
What worries the side further is that West Ham have gone without a goal in the last 242 minutes they spent on the field. The onus is on the likes of Said Benrahma, Michail Antonio, and Jarrod Bowen to gain the side some momentum while the side sits just two points off the relegation zone in the Premier League.
