Margot Robbie’s mum joined her on the red carpet and people cannot believe their similarity

Margot Robbie stepped out on the red carpet with her mother at the premiere of her latest film, Babylon, and sent the internet into meltdown.

Fans were shocked by the uncanny similarity between the 32-year-old Academy Award-nominee and her 65-year-old physiotherapist following their appearance at the Los Angeles premier.

So who is Sarie Kessler? Margot and her mother are fiercely close and Sarie raised Margot and her three siblings as a single mother in Queensland, Australia, after their father Doug Robbie, a sugarcane tycoon, apparently left home.

Margot and her mother are so close that Margot once told Vogue Australia that she spent her first-ever paycheck on her mother.  “I spent it on paying you back, mum. Don’t you remember? I was so in debt by the end of grade 12,” she said in the 2019 interview.

“I had everything I owed you written on a piece of paper, and every time I got a paycheck I paid off my debt, but then I kept the piece of paper because it was so satisfying at the end to know I’d paid it all back.”

Fans will recall Margot found fame on Neighbours in 2008 – and she went on to play Donna Freedman on the hit soap for three years.

She went on to become a household name thanks to her turn as Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife in The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013, and then went on to score a major role in 2016’s Suicide Squad and starring role in I, Tonya in 2018.

Margot is currently celebrating her latest project, Babylon, which has a hedonistic, drug-fuelled and unapologetic Hollywood scene as the backdrop.

The buzz around the epic – also starring Brad Pitt – has been building after its raucous trailer was released in September, painting the picture of a flamboyant time during the early days of Hollywood. There’s drug use, wild dancing, and, erm… rattlesnake fighting. Not to mention an unexplained elephant.

Fans have been waiting a long time for the film since it was originally scheduled for a 2021 release date which was sadly pushed back due to the pandemic. Back in 2020, at the Golden Globes, Brad revealed he was extra excited about the project. “He’s looking at the silent movie era, the death of the silent movie era. It’s good. It’s really good. He’s really good,” he said of director Damien Chazelle.

Many claim it’s giving The Wolf Of Wall Street vibes on steroids. And since director Chazelle is known for raking in the awards nominations courtesy of previous movies La La Land and Whiplash, we’re expecting great things when it lands in the new year.
