The Dallas Mavericks dropped out of the playoff race with a closely-contested loss to the Chicago Bulls on Friday night.
With just over 20 seconds remaining in the contest, Theo Pinson attempted a game-tying three. The shot wasn’t even close — bouncing off side rim and landing in the hands of a Bulls player.
The Bulls went on to win with a 115-112 final score, sending the Mavs to the No. 11 spot in the Western Conference.
Team owner Mark Cuban’s reaction to Pinson’s missed shot is going viral on social media.

Last night was a must-win game for the Mavericks if they wanted to claim that final No. 10 spot, but the team elected to rest several key players — including Kyrie Irving. Luka Doncic also rested after playing just the first quarter.
With this decision, it appears Cuban and the Mavericks organization were waiving the white flag on this disappointing season. The team was in solid position midway through the year, but a late-season collapse saw them quickly drop in the closely-contested Western Conference field.
The Mavs will finish their regular season with a game against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday afternoon.
