Mark Schwarzer sends Chelsea warning over ‘unsellable’ outcast Mount

Mark Schwarzer has warned Todd Boehly and Graham Potter that they will live to regret selling Mason Mount if Chelsea are to offload the playmaker in the summer transfer window. The England international is now gearing up for a potential switch this summer having brought in Neil Fewings of Wasserman Media Group as his new agent to help resolve his future alongside his father.

Mount would like to stay at Chelsea but is yet to reach an agreement with the Blues as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his current deal which expires in the summer of 2024.

With Mount still out of the Chelsea side, the Blues are now expected to push their attacking midfielder towards the exit door in order to raise some cash.

Schwarzer believes Chelsea would be making a big mistake though as he told Sky Sports: “He’s [Mount] almost unsellable.

“He’s a player you would not sell. He’s a Chelsea kid through and through. He’s been at the club all his life.

“That’s what fans die for. Fans love that. He’s such an incredible player. I certainly would not be selling him as he is such a phenomenal player.”

Mount is already being courted by the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United while Bayern Munich and Juventus have also been linked with a lucrative transfer swoop.

Potter does not seem to be keen on the player despite insisting he wants Mount to stay during recent press conferences.

But with Chelsea highly likely to continue spending, competition for places at Stamford Bridge is becoming more fierce.

That’s why Mount could make the brave decision to jump ship in order to maximise his potential, even if it would be tough leaving his boyhood club.

TalkSPORT’s Simon Jordan has speculated that Mount needs to reduce his wage demands if he wishes to remain with Chelsea, indicating they are currently excessive.

“His problem at Chelsea, as I understand it, with the contractual situation and a potential move away, is that there are some pretty outlandish demands coming in for a salary,” Jordan said.

“I think they’re [Mount’s wage demands] in the mid-£200,000-plus. Therein lies some of the problem and the reason why certain teams can’t sign him and certain teams won’t.

“My understanding is that the lad wants to stay at Chelsea but that he wants the kind of salary that is prohibiting that conversation and is also prohibiting moving to other football clubs.”

Mount, who has been injured in recent weeks, has managed just three goals and two assists in the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old ace hit double figures in both departments last season under Thomas Tuchel and is one of the players that has suffered since the German’s departure last September.

Potter is now operating with a 3-4-3 system which does not seem to benefit Mount, meaning it could be a while before he returns to the starting XI on a consistent basis.
