Manchester United went ahead against Chelsea following two first half goals from Casemiro and Martial.
And further strikes from Fernandes and Rashford gave Erik ten Hag’s side the win they needed to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
Martinez missed the game through injury, with the Argentina international sidelined ever since a 2-2 draw with Sevilla last month.
And he took to social media to hail his team-mates, simply saying: “Proud of this team.”
Martinez accompanied his post with a heart emoji and multiple exclamation marks to hammer home his enthusiasm.

And he, along with his team-mates, can now look ahead to next season.
Ten Hag, meanwhile, was delighted with the result and admitted he was happy at his players’ desire to win the match.
“This club belongs in the Champions League,” said the 53-year-old.
“It’s not easy in the Premier League so a lot compete for that. It’s massive when you get it done.
“We showed the winning attitude. Chelsea have outstanding players but in the counter attacks we were really good, really dangerous.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, meanwhile, believes United’s ruthlessness in attack was what ultimately separated the two teams.
“The clinical nature in front of goal,” said the interim Blues boss.
“We were the better football team in the first half – in possession, chances we matched them at least.
“To be 2-0 down is probably a sign of where we’re at. Second half, probably a sign of where we’re at.”
On how he feels, he added: “Disappointed with it. We have to be better than that.
“It’s the end of a long season. There are some technical details inside you have to work daily to do the standards things you say, they are a fact.
“Maybe with United you see there’s some experience at both ends of the pitch that made the game as it was. It’s a reality for the players.”
He added: “Any team that wins or consistently gets results has them. Without them the tactics don’t matter.
“Training well every day, trying to win, being a collective unit. I understand it’s hard for the coaches this year at the club as it’s a big squad and I’ve lived in that. Sometimes you can say maybe it’s a factor but as a player you have to put it to the side and focus on your own game.
“Since I’ve come in I’ve realised some of the collective standards. We have to realise why the club is where it’s at. There’s definitely not a lack of effort. I was fortunate to be here for many years, you can be here the next year and see that someone has improved on their standards.”
