Martyn Ford has denied rival Iranian Hulk’s allegation that he used steroids in the build-up to their ill-fated fight.

Ford was set to make his boxing debut against Iranian Hulk – real name Sajad Gharibi – but the fight was shelved at short notice. Gharibi later hit out at Ford suggesting he was to blame for the clash and demanding he is found a new opponent.

After initially hitting out at Ford, Gharibi later alleged Ford was given permission to use steroids for their boxing clash, when he said: “He is also getting steroids based on his DNA type. Steroids are forbidden in boxing but Martyn Ford is so precious that they allowed him to use them. He gets almost 8ml of steroids per day.”

Ford responded by saying he has had enough of his opponent’s “excuses” and has vowed to move on from discussing his long-term rival. “I have absolutely no energy for this guy. I have gone through 30 years of training,” Ford told Mirror Fighting . “Anyone in the game knows what it takes to compete and bodybuilding and training hard.

“For me it is very easy to shout out you are only this because of that. It is very obvious if you follow my life from the way, the lifestyle that I live, the way that I train and I dedicate my life, the way that I sleep and eat everything is about fitness and training. For me he is grasping at things he can throw out there and excuses for him. I don’t think there is any argument to have with any of his excuses, I am not someone who will sit there and have an argument with a child.”

Ford was extremely frustrated after it became clear he would no longer be able to make his ring debut. The British star has lost 60lb of weight to prepare to lace up his gloves and previously hailed his new shape claiming he was “bigger and better than ever” after switching to fighting training.

Several options could now emerge for the strongman who remains eager to compete in boxing which include a clash with Thor Bjornsson. Ford is willing to put his rivalry with Gharibi behind him after the accusation and wants to focus on his own projects.

“I am done with talking about the guy because he has tarnished a lot of what I am trying to do,” Ford concluded. “I don’t blame him individually but I think there is an element of responsibility he has to take. He didn’t train for it, he wasn’t prepared for it and doesn’t deserve the opportunity at the moment to be honest. It is disrespectful to the fight game.”
