Maruti Suzuki recalls over 11,000 Grand Vitara SUV due to faulty seat belt brackets

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Domestic automaker Maruti Suzuki has issued a second recall for its famous vehicle Grand Vitara SUV within a week. The company has announced to recall a total of 11,177 units of its mid-sized sports utility vehicle manufactured between August 8, 2022, and November 15, 2022.

The company has recalled these vehicles to fix a possible defect in the rear seat belt mounting brackets. The company will replace the affected part free of cost, if required in these vehicles.

“It is suspected that there is a possible defect in rear seat belt mounting brackets which in a rare case, may loosen in the long run and impact its functionality,” Maruti said in a regulatory filing.

Vehicle owners will be receiving communication from the company authorised dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the affected parts, free of cost, said PTI citing the company.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV
Maruti Suzuki launched Grand Vitara in India on September 26 last year at a starting price of Rs 10.45 lakh. The car has 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options and is available in 9 stunning colour options. It has 4 driving modes options – Auto, Sport, Snow, and Lock.

The car is also equipped with new-age technologies like Panoramic Sunroof, Head Up Display, Digital Multi-information Display, Wireless Charger, Next-gen Suzuki Connect, SmartPlay Pro+, and more.

Maruti recalled 17,362 units last week
Last week, the auto major company announced that it was recalling 17,362 units manufactured between December 8 last year and January 12. The affected models were Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno, and Grand Vitara.

At that time, the recall was being conducted to inspect and replace the affected part of the airbag controller.
