Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has made over £1million through his image rights company despite not playing for the club in over a year, according to reports. The England international is currently facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford. However, talk is rife that the 21-year-old could leave on loan with Erik ten Hag supposedly against selling the forward this summer.
According to The Sun, Greenwood has posted ‘bumper profits’ from his image rights company.
The United striker, who has continued to pick up his £75,000-a-week wages at Old Trafford since his last appearance in January last year, is director of TSM Sports Ltd.
The report says Greenwood has £1.05m in his account, which is up from £740,000 the previous year.
The company was founded by both the United star and his father Andrew back in 2019, with the Red Devils forward owning more than 75 per cent of the firm’s shares.
And though his future at the club is shrouded in uncertainty, he appears to be in a solid financial position off the pitch.
And with United in need of a new striker, there remains a possibility Greenwood will be reintegrated into their squad.
The forward made his debut for the club in a 3-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.
He notched his first goal for the Red Devils in a victory over Astanta that same year.
Greenwood was a key player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the Norwegian’s time in the dugout.
He’s made 129 appearances for the club so far, scoring 35 goals in the process.
Meanwhile, a source recently told The Sun that Greenwood was eager to get back to playing.
The United forward was recently snapped training with a private coach at a public sports centre.
And the insider said: “He firmly believes he is an innocent man and is very frustrated he’s not been able to play.
“He understands that the club have had to carry out an investigation, but he feels like his career is slipping by.
“He and his team have made clear to United that they now want to know what is happening.
“They have basically said, ‘sack him or back him’.
“If they want to reintegrate him, then do so. If they want to sell him, then tell him.
“And if they want to loan him out, then tell them so his team can find the best club for him.”
