The COVID count for Friday climbed above 2,000 again statewide just as the city welcomes 30,000 Boston Marathon runners over the weekend.

The good news is the weather will make staying outside tolerable. Temps are expected to be in the 50s, and it should be dry throughout the day Monday. Late showers could hit the city Saturday and Sunday.

The state COVID dashboard reports seven new deaths bringing the total for Massachusetts to 19,059 since the pandemic began.

The percent positivity rate is now at 3.89% and there are 343 people hospitalized.

The state’s vaccine database states 16,496,770 doses have been shipped so far to Massachusetts — with 14,311,558 shots in arms. The “grand total” of those “fully” vaccinated stands at 5,343,634.

This comes after state education officials on Thursday reported a total of more than 5,300 staff and students testing positive for COVID-19 in the past week, as virus cases continue to rise in the Bay State.

The count of 5,363 staff and students is a 42% increase from the previous weekly report of 3,766 infections.
