I had no idea what to expect going into this and I must admit, I was a little nervous. I arrived first and my date, about five minutes after. We broke the ice with a margarita and got straight into chatting.
It was really hard to know what to expect because I didn’t know anything about him. I have been set up on dates before by friends but I’ve always had information to go off so this was all really new and quite an interesting experience. It was a friend who actually signed me up for Blind Date in the first place, with my permission of course.

Matt and I actually had a lot in common. We spoke about the usual first date subjects like his job, family, coming to Australia from England and his daughter that lives here. Matt mentioned he’s keen on doing some solo travel in the future as well. We were able to chat with ease and didn’t encounter any awkward moments, so that was nice.
We both love cooking and wine — although Matt is trying not to drink as much at the moment. Pretty funny considering we spent $160 on margaritas.
I’d say we were both pretty chatty people and could chat to anyone about anything and everything. Even when the waitress came over she mentioned that it seemed like things were going pretty well, but I’d say we are both just easy people that could get along with almost anyone.
We decided to finish up and he offered to walk me to the train station. He gave me a hug and said it was nice to meet you so that is where we left it. I did get the impression I wasn’t his type and to be honest, he’s probably not really my type either but that is ok. It was still a great experience meeting someone new and having a nice conversation over some drinks and dinner. I’d still rate the date high because we did have a really good time.

Matt, 38, says:
As the Uber dropped me off for the date he mentioned that a lot of people had been raving about the restaurant Double Rainbow so I was excited to try it. I arrived just after my date. It was my first blind date ever and wow, I was a bit nervous but also really excited.
Jo is dead nice. She looked lovely as well. Really great girl with a lot in common.
We were chatting about a lot. There were certain things we spoke about where I could just totally relate to what she was saying. It was such a good, flowing conversation. We spoke about some of Jo’s properties and the housing market in general. We also talked about travel and family.

I’d describe Jo as a very intelligent woman, she’s bubbly and has a really great sense of humour that was in line with mine — sometimes a little dark. I liked the way she is just able to carry her own but in an elegant way.
We ended up having about six margaritas each so we were definitely a bit intoxicated when we finished up.
The match was really good, but I think there was just a lack of spark between us. I don’t think I have a particular type as such, I think I am just looking for the spark. I’ve been on some dates recently and it just hasn’t been there. We have a lot of access to different people through dating apps now, but it is still pretty hard to find someone you really connect with.
I have been in Perth for about nine years and have been on and off the dating scene over that time. I decided to give Blind Date a go because I am literally looking for love, sometimes in all the wrong places, so I thought why not task someone else with the job.
We finished up, I walked with her to the train station to see her off. I don’t think we will catch up again but I had a really great time with Jo.
