Optus Stadium culinary ambassador Matt Moran’s new footy burger is kicking serious goals, and it’s so not what you’d expect to eat while you’re sitting in the stands.

Sporting a soft, milk brioche bun with slow-cooked Margaret River lamb shoulder, an apple slaw, mustard gravy and a mint salsa, it’s safe to say I was excited to dig in.

While wearing a light-coloured silk top wasn’t my smartest idea, it really didn’t hold me back when it came to taking my first bite.

Channelling my inner MasterChef judge, I thought deeply about what eloquent and colourful commentary I could bring to the table. Do I focus on the tantalising texture combination? The refreshing taste of the old-fashioned mint? The gorgeous structure that the bun held the entire way through? There were so many things I wanted to say — but I couldn’t put the damn thing down.
