You’ve probably heard the name Mattea Roach.
Now, another Toronto contestant will be on Jeopardy! when the show airs at 7:30 p.m. on YES-TV.
Matt Petroff, a management consultant from Toronto, will compete on the popular game show.
He follows the now-famous footsteps of Roach, the 23-year-old Toronto tutor who racked up 24 wins and US$560,983. The University of Toronto grad’s five-week run put her in fifth place on the all-time list for consecutive games won.
Only legends Ken Jennings, Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio and James Holzhauer have won more games or money during their time on the show.
Meanwhile, Jennings, the famed 74-game winner, recently revealed he is taking a break from his Jeopardy! hosting gig and will turn it over to Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik, who has previously hosted the show along with Jennings following longtime host and Canadian Alex Trebek’s death in 2020.
