The 1975 at the Mercury Prize Albums of the Year in London in 2016. It was a prestigious award ceremony celebrating the best albums of the year in association with BBC 6 Music, at Hammersmith Apollo, London.
Matty Healy is the frontman of The 1975. He is a singer, songwriter, and musician from England, and has been in the music business since 2002. His parents are also in the entertainment business. His dad, Tim Healy, is an actor and his mother, Denise Welch, is an actress and television presenter.
Matty formed The 1975 in 2002 along with lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer and producer George Daniel. He started out as the drummer but was moved to lead singer when Elliott Williams left the band. As of 2023, The 1975 has released five studio albums, two live albums, and seven EPs.
In addition to his work with The 1975, Matty took on other projects with bandmate George. They co-produced No Rome’s EP ‘RIP Indo Hisashi’ and produced Beabadoobee’s solo EP ‘Our Extended Play.’ He also wrote the songs, ‘Pictures of Us’ and ‘You’re Here That’s the Thing’ which were on Beabadoobee’s album ‘Beatopia.’
