Former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino admits he misses the Premier League and is open to coming back.

Pochettino had one eye on the England job but with the Three Lions enjoying a strong start at the World Cup in Qatar – topping Group B with an unbeaten record and scoring nine goals – Gareth Southgate may stay in the role for a while longer.

He was considered by Chelsea but they were concerned over Pochettino’s ability to compete at the highest level before they decided to appoint Graham Potter.

Pochettino was also snubbed by Manchester United, who ended up bringing in Erik ten Hag from Ajax as their new manager instead.

The Argentine was then linked with Aston Villa before the arrival of former Arsenal boss Unai Emery from Villarreal.

‘I miss the Premier League,’ he told talkSPORT. Why not [return], we are open! I am really open.

‘I love England and I am living between London and Barcelona, but more in London.

‘My house, my home… I love to be in England. The Premier League is the best league in the world. It’s so competitive.’

It has been almost 10 years since Pochettino arrived in England as a manager, taking charge of Southampton, where he was known for developing young English players.

After just a year in charge of the Saints he left for Spurs, where he managed from 2014 until 2019 and led the north London club to the Champions League final.

He was ultimately sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho as Pochettino then took two years out of the game before returning to management with PSG.

Pochettino spent a year and a half managing PSG, winning the Coupe de France and Ligue 1 title before the club and manager decided to part ways in July.
