Even though it’s been a tough season for the Dallas Mavericks, they still want to bring back Kyrie Irving.
Per Chris Haynes, the Mavericks are still planning on re-signing Irving. If he does re-sign, it’ll have to be during free agency since Irving plans to test the open market.

Irving has been with the Mavericks for 19 games after he was acquired by them just before the NBA Trade Deadline. In those games, Irving has averaged 26 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
That’s outstanding production but it has translated to the Mavs getting results. They’re currently 37-42, which is good for 11th in the Western Conference.
They’re a half-game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the final playoff spot. If they get in, they’d play in the play-in tournament, likely against either the Los Angeles Lakers or New Orleans Pelicans.
Seeing Irving play a full season with Luka Doncic could mean big things for the Mavericks in the future.
