Oh, what the fans of McRib have to endure.
After the saucy sandwich’s first run, from 1991 to 1995, McRib has popped up only sporadically on the McDonald’s menu. Now billed as farewell tours, these appearances — as with Cher and KISS tours — might be the final one. Or might not.
“We have good news, and we have bad news,” McDonald’s said in a press release Monday. “The elusive McRib® is finally back…BUT this could be your last chance to get it.”
The cult-favorite star’s latest return date is Oct. 31. As always, the sandwich will feature seasoned boneless pork shaped to look like a small rack of ribs, drenched in barbecue sauce, topped with dil pickles and slivered onions and served on a roll. A scary culinary choice for Halloween, to be sure.
Then, on Nov. 4, at 8 a.m. Pacific time, sales of McRib merchandise will commence on a dedicated website — “since no Farewell Tour is complete without custom merch,” McDonald’s said.
“Fans will be able to show their love for this legendary sandwich long after it’s gone with limited-edition throwback-inspired merch featuring the McRib throughout the decades on art, clothing and memorabilia.”
Merchandise prices will start at 99 cents.
And what about the price of the McRib? What has inflation done to that?
Muwahaha. We shall see.
