Megan Fox has long been known for her waist-skimming brunette waves, but her self-proclaimed “slutty but studious Targaryen” white-blonde look (plus Halloween transformations into the title character from The Legend of Zelda and ‘90s heartthrob Pamela Anderson) had us thinking she was ready to commit to the new color.
But on November 17, the actor confirmed her brunette hue was back and better than ever with an updo (rare for Fox, who usually lets her mermaid-like waves hang loose) created by hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons for the GQ Men of the Year party. The front section of her hair was styled with two face-framing tendrils, leaving us to conclude Fox has taken the crown as the ultimate Y2K prom queen.

In a press release shared with Allure, Fitzsimons disclosed the step-by-step breakdown of how he achieved Fox’s prom queen bun, using products from his hair-care line. He first prepped her wet strands with Andrew Fitzsimons AF 1 Restructuring 10-in-1 Leave-In Conditioner, starting at the mid-lengths of her hair and working his way down to the tips, to provide hydration. Next, he sprayed the entire body of her hair with the Andrew Fitzsimons Body Volume Blowdry Hold Spray to add volume and texture before using a curling iron to add loose bends.
Prior to gathering the hair into a high ponytail, he separated and parted a large section of at the front to create those gorgeous tendrils. Fitzsimons adds that once the hair was tied up at the crown into a ponytail, he spritzed Andrew Fitzsimons APRES SEXE Texture Spray throughout. “Using my finger, I pulled out small sections of the ponytail and curled them around my finger, pinning them back into the ponytail one by one to create a messy bun effect,” he says.
