Author Valentine Low joined Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls to discuss his latest tell-all book on Wednesday. The book takes a look at the life of the royals including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure as working royals and the breakdown of his relationship with Prince William. Valentine told Susanna and Ed that Harry and Meghan were “unhappy” in the first year of their relationship and were ignored when asking for any help.
Touching on their turbulent first year of being married, Valentine explained: “In that meeting, it was said, ‘Listen, you are coming into the Royal Family from a different place.
“You are an actress, you are a grown-up woman, we can do things differently, let’s talk about how you want to do this.
“You might want to carry on acting, you might want to work in the industry’, and Meghan said, ‘No I want to do the philanthropy, I want to support my husband’.
“Then there is another guy, Sir David Manning, he cooks up this plan ages ago before he even met Meghan, which suggested that they could go and live in South Africa for a while.

“That didn’t work out but these were two people who made a lot of effort to try and accommodate them but there is a way in which the courtiers are to blame.
“The people around them were doing their best, these were people who could believe in Meghan and Harry and wanted them to work.
“But there were signs early on in the first sort of year or so of their marriage there were signs of how unhappy Harry and Meghan were and no one really did anything about that.
“No one picked it up, no one flagged it, no big conversations with the courtiers in the institution.
Valentine simply responded: “Absolutely. Yeah.”
Susanna pressed for an explanation as to what the courtiers had “survived” to which Valentine explained: “It was a very difficult experience for some of them.
“There were some extraordinary things said about their employer. The Palace shot themselves in the foot.
“They said they were going to look into it, and they trapped themselves because they were never going to.”
Yesterday, the Sussexes came under fire once again as two portrait images of them at the One Young World conference were released.
The images came just two days after King Charles III unveiled his slimmed-down monarchy, standing alongside Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Celebrity photographer Misan, director of the Southbank Centre and a friend of the couple, captured the special moment between the couple.
Misan captioned the images on Instagram: “The Duke & Duchess of Sussex moments before attending the opening ceremony of @OneYoungWorld last month.”
