“Best thing I ever did was learn how to move without the crowd,” read Mulroney’s message that was posted to her Instagram Story, per Page Six.

Her comment came after viewers of the first three episodes wondered why Mulroney, whose children were part of the royal wedding, was not part of the first volume of Harry & Meghan, which debuted last week.
“Why isn’t Jessica Mulroney in this series?” one viewer wondered. “Based on her position at the wedding she seems VERY important.”
“In all of this, there is no mention of Jessica Mulroney, who was her BFF and whose three children were all members of the wedding party. Jessica had some trouble in 2020, and, typically, MM ghosted her BFF too,” an another added.
“Jessica Mulroney introduced Meghan to Toronto society. Served as a pro bono stylist, securing free designer everything, All three kids were in [Harry and Meghan’s] wedding. Markled. Just a rung on the s****’s ladder,” a third person jabbed.

Fans speculated that the 42-year-old Toronto stylist’s only mention comes during one scene in which Markle is seen video-calling her friend “Jess” after Harry proposed in 2017.
“Oh my God, Jess, it’s happening,” Markle exclaims before the footage jumps to Harry’s proposal. “He told me not to peek.”
The pair were close when Markle filmed her legal drama Suits in Toronto during the 2010s.
“[Meghan] made sure that Jessica was sitting in that first seat closest to where Harry and Meghan were standing,” Birks vice-president Eva Hartling told PEOPLE of Mulroney’s status at Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding.
But Mulroney’s omission from the first part of the series led many to assume that the two never fully recovered from their rift several years ago.

In June 2020, Toronto social media influencer Sasha Exeter accused Mulroney of using her “white privilege” to threaten her career in private Instagram messages.
Exeter had urged followers to use their platform to speak out on racism, but Mulroney took her comments as a personal attack. Jessica hinted that she could use her connections to jeopardize the So Sasha founder’s brand sponsorships, which included Joe Fresh.

“I have also spoken to companies and people about the way you have treated me unfairly,” Jessica said. “You think your voice matters. Well, it only matters if you express it with kindness and without shaming people who are simply trying to learn. Good luck.”
Mulroney dragged Markle into the fray when she added, “As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre.”
Mulroney later apologized for her remarks to Exeter, saying she had not done “enough when it came to engaging in the important and difficult conversation around race and injustice in our society.” But the damage was done, with the stylist losing her CTV show, I Do, Redo, and her spot as a fashion contributor on Good Morning America.

Markle reportedly tried to distance herself from Mulroney as the scandal made headlines around the world.
“Meghan is absolutely mortified that she’s been dragged into this complete mess,” a close friend of Meghan’s told the Daily Mail at the time. “She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking.”
A separate source told Us Weekly that Markle “could not get over that Jessica brought up [their] relationship … when she commented about her ‘closest friend’ in the discourse with Sasha.”
“That was hugely offensive to Meghan and the deciding factor for her. Meghan considers the relationship to be done.”
Months later, Mulroney said the pair were still very much friends.
“I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me every day,” Mulroney wrote on her Instagram Story.
“Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline[s]. Stop feeding into it. Done.”
But in June 2021, the pair’s relationship seemed to be on the rocks again after Mulroney shared a post about “losing friends.”
“Life changes. You lose love. You lose friends. You lose pieces of yourself that you never imagined would be gone.”
