Meghan’s resurfaced interview has fans asking ‘what went so wrong?’

An old interview with Meghan has resurfaced, giving viewers a glimpse into the Suits actress’s “vibrant” and “confident” personality as she advocated for self-esteem in young adults.

The televised discussion was hosted at the time of the Dove Self Esteem Project, which Meghan campaigned for to inspire confidence in young women who battle appearance-related anxiety.

In the clip, Meghan Markle reflects on experiences she had as a young child, including her activism against sexism at the age of 11.

She explained that her childhood was a major turning point in her confidence as she contended with questions about her “bi-racial” identity and feeling “displaced”.

Instead of caving into her negative thoughts, Meghan said she used them as ammunition to try and “shape the world” around her, adding: “Even if I am not exactly able to check one specific box, […] I can make my own box.”

Commenting on the video just a few days ago, one viewer wrote: “I listen to her and can’t stop wondering what went so wrong with the Royal Family and now there is no going back. Sad for them!

Another noted: “She was more confident and genuine prior to her marriage,” which one viewer responded to, saying: “I liked Meghan before she met Prince Harry and started feeling entitled. Before she was a better human being.”

Other viewers praised the Duchess for her eloquence, writing: “This girl could start her own talk show… She’s very eloquent with her words. I also like that she’s a humanitarian and an advocate.”

“Great to learn so much about this great woman, her other family wanted to put [a] veil over her and the firm bought it. It is said that this was allowed to happen. Great woman,” said another.

Meghan is complemented on her confidence in the second part of the interview, to which she responds: “I understand that now people know me from Suits, but my whole life for the past 34 years has not been that. There have been struggles and challenges and my own battles with self-esteem.”

When asked what advice she would offer to younger women, she said: “We just need to be kinder to ourselves, truly. If we treated ourselves the way we treated our best friend, can you imagine how much better off we would be?

“Try to find a space inside you that reminds yourself that, you can have questions with self-doubt and that’s going to come up, that’s human, but at the end of the day you are enough exactly as you are.”
