Melvin Gordon went on awkward Twitter ‘like’ spree after Broncos loss

The Denver Broncos have sputtered their way to a 2-4 and Melvin Gordon hinted at being unhappy he isn’t getting the chance to help turn things around.

The Denver running back recently liked a number of tweets that highlighted his lack of involvement in Monday night’s 19-16 road loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

One such tweet stated, “Melvin Gordon needs to request a trade tomorrow! The utter disrespect!” Another said, “#Broncos coaching staff seems about done with Melvin Gordon.”

Gordon, 29, was not utilized much in the loss while newly added tailback Latavius Murray tallied 16 touches as opposed to Gordon’s three. Gordon appeared to be frustrated as ESPN cameras captured him talking with a fiery Jerry Jeudy on the sidelines during Monday’s game.

“No one mentioned anything to me,” Gordon told NFL Network’s Bridget Condon about being benched. “Just waiting for my number to get called so I can help my teammates. It was a close game. I felt like I could’ve helped make a difference but apparently not.”

He may have expected to be use more after the Broncos lost top back Javonte Williams to a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 against the Raiders.

“We’re going to have a conversation,” Broncos coach Nathanial Hackett told reporters. “Melvin didn’t do anything wrong. He didn’t. We just didn’t have a lot of plays.”

Before arriving in Denver, Gordon was a marquee back for the Chargers. The two-time Pro Bowler rushed for 1,105 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games in 2017.
