What’s rare is beautiful. Mark Selby achieved snooker immortality and had the Crucible in raptures tonight as he became the first player to ever hit a maximum 147 break in the final of the Snooker World Championships.
It came in the 16th frame, with the Joker trailing his Belgian opponent Luca Brecel 9-5. What commenced was nearly 10 minutes of snooker perfection. Selby is the tenth player to ever hit a 147 at the Crucible and the second in this competition, along with Kyren Wilson.

Roy Keane was in the gantry this evening:. Selby’s perfect break had many on Twitter making the same joke.
We’re delighted to host Roy Keane this evening.
