It didn’t take Mercedes-Benz long to reverse its former decision to not offer V8 power options in 2022.

As we reported a number of months ago , a leaked memo from Mercedes-Benz back in August of 2021 suggested the brand was suspending all eight-cylinder-vehicle sales in the U.S. and Canada in 2022. The memo cited “various global, external and internal requirements, as well as several other factors, including but not limited to, challenges in the supply chain” as the reason for the cull.

But an alleged new note to North American dealers seems to indicate order has been reversed and the big, gas-drinking engines will be available in certain models for 2022.

Motor Authority broke the news, noting it has viewed and confirmed the contents of the dealer note, and adding that Benz will begin taking orders for 2022 GLE-, GLS-, and G-Class twin-turbo V8 vehicles on February 3, at 3 p.m. EST. Those desiring the added oomph will find it in the G 63, G 550, GLS 600 Maybach, GLS 63, GLS 580, GLE 63S, GLE 63, and GLE 580.
