Mercedes EQS 580: German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz on Friday launched its new electric vehicle Mercedes EQS 580 in the Indian market. It is the German brand’s first ‘Made in India luxury EV’. The company has launched the car at a price of Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom).

The booking for the all-electric luxury sedan is already open and interested customers can book the car at a token amount of Rs 25 lakh.

The sedan is equipped with several luxury features including panorama roof, digital Lights, rear axle steering, folding rear seat backrests, multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather, light band with LED lamps in 3D helix design, luxury head restraints, velor floor mats etc.

The EQS 580 has a lithium-ion battery with up to 12 cell modules and pouch or hardcase cells. It is powered by dual electric motors with 385 kW total output. They can distribute up to 516 hp and 855 Nm of torque to all four wheels.

The newly launched car has technology features like MB-connect MBUX entertainment, Biometric user id (fingerprint), 360° Camera, Connect 20 premium+ (NTG7), Smartphone integration, apple carplay, android auto, MBconnect – EV features (hermes) and more.

The company claimed that the new luxury sedan takes just 31 mins for a 10-80% full charge using a DC fast charging station with a supply voltage of 400 V and minimum current of 500 A.

In terms of safety, the all-electric luxury vehicle comes equipped with active parking assist, active lane departure-assistant (camera), automatically dimming interior and exterior mirror, rear sensors for the lane departure assistant, active steering assist, evasive manoeuvre support, 9 airbags, Mercedes-Benz emergency call system, tyre pressure monitoring system (tpms) and much more.
