Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly preparing a massive overhaul this summer with futures of as many as 15 players up in the air. Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos are among the players who face an uncertain future at the Parc des Princes as reported by the French media. According to reports, the Parisian giants are looking to integrate more young blood into the side. They are also said to be in a desperate need to balance their books and cut down their massive wage bill.
It has been claimed that PSG could potentially face new sanctions from the UEFA Champions League due to the Financial Fair Play breaches. They were already fined €10 million for the 2020-21 season with €45 million suspended fine. Quite evidently, the Qatar-backed club are looking to significantly cut down their wage bill and are considering parting ways with both Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos.
Both Ramos and Messi’s contract talks have been stalled as per reports. Both the superstars have their current deals at the club expiring this summer. Ramos and Messi both joined PSG in the summer of 2021 from Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively after their contracts expired at the respective clubs. They are among the highest earners at the club and could be let go in order to build for the future.
The Ligue 1 giants could also offload several players, including the likes of Juan Bernat, Renato Sanches, Carlos Soler, and Fabian Ruiz. Hugo Etikite, on loan from Reims, could also return to his parent club in the summer.
The French Ligue 1 champions are also looking for solutions for their players currently out on loan at other clubs. This includes Keylor Navas at Nottingham Forest, Layvin Kurzawa at Fulham, Colin Dagba at Strasbourg, and Abdou Diallo at RB Leipzig. Julian Draxler at Benfica, Leandro Paredes at Juventus, Georginio Wijnaldum at AS Roma, and Mauro Icardi at Galatasaray could also be offloaded in the summer. However, it will be difficult for PSG to find suitors for players given their high wages at the Parc des Princes.
