It was a Mumbai batting that stood tall again. Indians scored 218/5 after batting first, mainly courtesy of a stellar knock by Suryakumar Yadav. SKY scored a stunning century in the match and remained unbeaten on 103 off just 49 balls.

Vishnu Vinod (30 off 20 balls) and Ishan Kishan (31 off 20 balls) also played a decent part in the total. Rashid Khan picked up 4 wickets with the ball.
In reply, Gujarat Titans had a disastrous start. Wriddhiman Saha(2), Shuman Gill (6) and Hardik Pandya (4) fell cheaply as Akash Madhwal starred with the ball for MI. David Miller played a decent hand for the Titans, but it was Rashid Khan who gave them a late flurry.
The Afghan magician scored his fifty off just 21 balls and became only the 6th player in IPL history to score a fifty and pick up 4 wickets in the same IPL match. GT stitched a fantastic 88-run partnership for the 9th wicket as Rashid Khan scored an unbeaten 79 runs off just 32 balls.
But it was not enough as the Titans fell short of 27 runs, scoring 191/8 at the end of their 20 overs. Despite the loss, the Titans stay on top of the IPL table. Mumbai Indians have taken a significant leap to the 3rd spot in the table.

MI vs GT IPL 2023 Match 57: Who Said What
Hardik Pandya (GT Captain): “It felt like only Rashid turned up. Full marks they way he batted and bowled. It’s fantastic. We don’t have to try much. As a group, we were not there. Our bowling was flat as the bowlers didn’t execute, we gave 25 runs extra. Because of Rashid’s inning, we made sure we didn’t lose by this margin.
(On SKY) “I think people have spoken enough. I think he is one of the best T20 batters. When he gets going, it’s difficult for anyone. He kept putting pressure on our bowlers and got the better of them. I think we lacked a lot of execution and that cost us the game. As a group, we understand but our intensity was quite flat as well.”
Rohit Sharma (MI Captain): “It was an interesting game especially from our point of view, happy to get the two points. That was pleasing, bat first and then come out and defend the total. We kept picking wickets and in this format you have to do that, great bowling effort from our bowlers. The guy has got the confidence.”
“We wanted to keep right-left combination but SKY came in and said no, he wanted to go in. That is the kind of confidence he has and that rubs off on others. Every game he wants to start fresh and does not look back at the previous game. Sometimes you can sit back and feel proud but that is not the case with him.”
Suryakumar Yadav (Player of the Match): “Can say (best T20 innings). Whenever I get runs, I want team to win. Had a chat earlier and can say it’s one of my best T20 innings.
(On the outrageous Third Man Six) “I knew what my shots are. I was prepared for two shots. I was not thinking about going straight. I played the shot before and backed myself. I was just happy how it went.”
“Lot of practice goes behind that. When I come to the game, I am very clear. I just try to go and express myself.”
