Actor Michael Imperioli isn’t happy with recent decisions made by the Supreme Court of the United States, and he’s making his opinions known. On Instagram, the White Lotus and Sopranos actor shared a screenshot of a news article that states, “Supreme Court protects web designer who won’t do gay wedding websites.” In response to this news, Imperioli has announced that all “bigots and homophobes” are now banned from watching any film or TV series that he’s ever had a role in.
“I’ve decided to forbid bigots and homophobes from watching The Sopranos, The White Lotus, Goodfellas or any movie or TV show I’ve been in,” Imperioli says. “Thank you Supreme Court for allowing me to discriminate and exclude those who I don’t agree with and am opposed to. USA ! USA!”
In one follow-up comment, the actor added, “Hate and ignorance is not a legitimate point of view.” He also stated, “America is becoming dumber by the minute.”
The news stems from the Supreme Court’s 6-3 majority decision on Friday to side with web designer Lorie Smith was seen by many as a big blow for the LGBTQ+ community. It had been argued that Smith’s refusal to design wedding websites for same-sex couples was discriminatory, but she said that mandating her to do so violates her constitutional rights. This decision was one of multiple to be made in recent days that has been controversial, as the Supreme Court also canceled President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness program while also nixing affirmative action in the college application process.
Michael Imperioli: Bigots Are Now Banned from Watching The Sopranos
If bigots and homophobes are no longer allowed to watch Imperioli’s work, there will be a lot of great material they will be missing out on. Recently, the actor impressed with his role in the second season of the hit HBO series The White Lotus. Of course, he is very well known for his unforgettable role in HBO’s gangster series The Sopranos. He reprised his role in a way by lending his voice to the prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, which was released in 2021. That followed Imperioli’s work in One NIght in Miami…, and he had appeared in many other notable films in years past as well, including Goodfellas, Jacob’s Ladder, Malcolm X, Bad Boys, The Basketball Diaries, Shark Tale, and The Lovely Bones, among others.
Imperioli has also appeared in many television shows, so that takes out other viewing options for the bigoted folks, according to the actor. He’s had roles in shows like NYPD Blue, Law & Order, New York Undercover, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Life on Mars, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, Watchmen, and Project Blue Book. He’s also had roles in episodes of the popular shows The Office and The Simpsons.
Imperioli is an Emmy winner, having won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama for his role in The Sopranos. He is also a musician, having performed with the band Zopa, and presumably, the group’s music is also off-limits to bigots and homophobes.
