Miguel Maestre in Perth for the Good Food and Wine Show

Spanish-Australian TV chef Miguel Maestre is yet to met a creature he wouldn’t cook up in a paella.

But the I’m a Celebrity 2020 winner draws the line at WA’s great white sharks.

“(I like to) be the one cooking, not the one cooked,” he said.

But a “nice marron” …“I’d portably put in a paella.”

Maestre is in the State for the WA Good Food and Wine Show, which runs Friday to Sunday, and told AAA he was looking forward to visiting the home of some of his favourite delicacies — the marron and of course, truffles.

“Perth people are so excited, they like to get involved and amongst the party,” he said.

“They like the wine tasting, they like the wine tasting, they like the wine tasting … and a little bit of cheese,” he joked.

The 42-year-old will be in the Kitchen by Harris Scarfe cooking up a feast during the three-day line-up of live cooking, masterclasses, more than 600 wines and 60 cheeses and exceptional producers from around the country.

“I’m cooking my favourite steak, the 1.2 kilo Tomahawk, great for the whole family,” he said.

“I’ve got a couple of surprises. Do a little bit of DIY on stage, I’m doing some serious chopping, I’ve got an angle grinder … I always want to add a bit of entertainment to my cooking demonstrations.”
