MANILA, Philippines—Filipino Mike Plania suffered an early stoppage at the hands of American Elijah Pierce over the weekend at Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, USA.
Plania hit the canvas after taking a short left hand from Pierce in the third round.
The General Santos City native tried to get up but failed to beat the count as the referee stopped the fight 53 seconds into the third.
Plania appeared to have the upper hand in the bout before the knockdown.
The super bantamweight bout headlined a five-fight card in Overtime Boxing’s maiden showing streamed by DAZN.

The 26-year-old Plania dropped to 28-3, with 15 knockouts. He has now dropped two of his last four bouts following an 11-fight winning streak.
Pierce, the 26-year-old southpaw, notched his ninth consecutive victory and improved his record to 18-2, 15KOs.
