Miranda might be bi in the Sex and the City reboot

And that’s not all. Miranda is also spotted in a dim-lit (read: romantic) setting with none other than Sara Ramirez, who will play the series’ first nonbinary chararacter, Che Diaz, a queer comedian and podcaster. Yes, it’s a spit-second glimpse, but Ramirez has one of those smiles that really brings out the heart-eye emoji in us, so we’re just going to assume they’re in love now.

One can only pray to Michael Patrick King above that Miranda’s queerness comes to pass. In the meantime, we have some requests. Many of us have been waiting most of our lives for Sex and the City to deliver some grade-A gay content, and we deserve nothing less than everything we want. (Ask yourself, wouldn’t Carrie agree?).

Here’s everything we want to see for a bi Miranda as the ladies retake Manhattan.

Never break up with Steve

Listen, we love gay shit. This has been established. But Steve (David Eigenberg) is the world’s perfect man. You could waste your breath arguing this point, but remember these are fictional characters and life is precious.

Miranda does not need to break up with Steve to also enjoy relationships with women or hot nonbinary people. This is 2021, let’s have an open mind. If Carrie and her friends know what podcasts are now, they presumably also know about throuples.

Find some queer friends

Speaking of which, Miranda’s lady friends do not have the best track record of holding the most progresive attitudes on issues like bisexuality, especially with Samantha gone (RIP). We would love to see Miranda make more friends like Ramirez’s Che. Perhaps if we are, in fact, glimpsing them at a lesbian bar, Miranda could assemble a whole crew.

Bring back lesbian bars across the nation

And while she’s there, perhaps art could imitate life. Miranda could take on some of Nixon’s own taste for civic activism and rally support for social spaces that center queer women. Lord knows we need more of them.

Maybe make out with Alanis?

Carrie famously blew her shot with Alanis Morissette during a game of spin the bottle in the fourth episode of season three. The brief kiss they shared served as proof that Carrie’s man-of-the-week wasn’t the one or something. (Who can even remember anymore?) But in any event, Carrie got to kiss Alanis — who, granted, was not playing herself — and didn’t like it.

Now, Miranda deserves a chance to see if she could make it work with Alanis. (I want to say it would be ironic if it did, but I don’t think I’m using that right.)

But also, Miranda should date Che

Perhaps less pie-in-the-sky, though, is the possibility that Miranda could wind up dating Che. Che-randa, anyone? Miran-che? Let’s decide on a ship name now. (Yes, we are solely basing this off a single exchange of smiles. Entire lesbian marriages have been built on less!)

Get the Gay Agenda added to the Constitution

As far as we’re concerned, Miranda can do anything she puts her mind to. She can eat a cookie the size of a pizza that says “I love you” on it. She can — and will — pull chocolate cake out of the trash and eat it. We would like her to apply that can-do spirit to advancing the gay agenda into the letter of the law. Sure, we’ve gotten some key rights secured at the Supreme Court, but with a legal mind like Miranda Hobbes on our side, we could accomplish the truly impossible.
