As Misha Collins won’t be flipping his Two-Face coins any longer following the cancellation of the TV show Gotham Knights, but the actor has found a way to use the show’s demise to help save lives by demining in Ukraine. Premiering in March of this year on The CW, Gotham Knights featured Collins in the role of Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, one of the most recognizable supervillains in comic book history. The character is known for making life-or-death choices with the flip of a coin, and Collins has partnered up with UNITED24 to offer limited-edition collector’s coins with all profits donated tot he actor’s fundraiser for humanitarian demining in Ukraine.
The limited edition souvenir series includes less than 500 sets, which can be found at ShopStands.com. This Court of Owls set includes a Gotham Knights coin, a faux-leather coin holder keychain, and a hand-signed Two-Face lithograph. The sale started on July 10 and will last until July 24, 2023, or until it’s sold out. 100% of the profits will be transferred to humanitarian demining in Ukraine, which is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. Collins has personally visited Ukraine in recent weeks and knows how important these efforts are.
“When I visited Ukraine a few weeks ago, I was captivated by the resilience and resourcefulness of the Ukrainian people,” he said in a statement. “Everyone in the nation unified behind the objective of driving the invading Russian army out. But even as the Russians retreat, they leave behind a deadly legacy. Ukranians can’t safely return to their farms or villages until the unexploded ordnances and landmines the Russians left behind are cleared. Nobody should have to face this danger, we’ve got to do something about it — and that’s where this humanitarian initiative comes in.”
He added, “Two-Face is famous for carrying a coin that he uses to make all his decisions, and I’d say helping Ukrainians is the easiest decision of all. This is a mission of peace — a humanitarian initiative that will provide desperately-needed equipment to remove land mines and make Ukraine safe for generations to come.”
Misha Collins Wants Some Good to Come from His Short-Lived Run on Gotham Knights
Unfortunately, Gotham Knights was canceled after a single season, so fans were only able to see just a little bit of Misha Collins after his full transformation into Two-Face. Reacting to the news on Twitter when it happened, Collins noted his disappointment but wanted to see that some good had come out of the series.
“I’m proud of the show we made and so grateful to have been able to work with such a smart, caring, good group of people.I’m especially proud that our story about fighting the good fight also gave us opportunities to tell diverse and inclusive stories,” he said. “We need more of that on screen, and while this story may not be going forward, I really believe it helped open that door a little wider for more characters from all backgrounds to shine.”
The actor added, “The show may be ending, but I know this community will keep the light shining against the darkness in the real world. Onward!”
