The Unicorns are based in Santa Clara, California and are one of the two teams which will represent the Southern state of the USA along with Los Angeles Knight Riders. The Unicorns have formed a decent squad ahead of the inaugural season and will aim to fare well in the tournament.
The franchise is owned by Anand Rajaraman, Venky Harinarayan – two Indian-origin USA entrepreneurs.
Former Australia captain Aaron Finch was appointed as the captain for the inaugural season, whereas some other overseas stars such as Matthew Wade, Finn Allen were also roped in. Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, Proteas pacer Lungi Ngidi are also part of their squad.

Former Indian youth international Smith Patel is also going to play for SF Unicorns in the first season, while ex-Haryana player Chaitanya Bishnoi, who was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad in the past, is also going to play for the Unicorns.
They are yet to announce their full squad ahead of the first season as per the latest communications, where they announced they will still name two more overseas players.

Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson has been appointed as the head coach for the inaugural season. Watson recently worked as a coach for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023 season.
