It can be argued that 2016 may have been the biggest year in UFC history, with several moments and storylines. We had the epic Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rivalry. There was the rise of Amanda Nunes with her bantamweight title win at UFC 200 and crushing of Ronda Rousey. And then there was McGregor becoming the first champ-champ in the promotion’s history at UFC 205 — the UFC’s long-awaited New York debut.
But the 2016 Fight of the Year came just before the year’s conclusion at UFC 206. There wasn’t a title on the line, but Cub Swanson and Doo Ho Choi wanted to jockey for position in the UFC featherweight contender rankings.
What resulted was an epic war that has now earned its spot in the Fight Wing of the UFC Hall of Fame. The promotion officially announced the induction of Swanson vs. Choi into the Hall of Fame during the UFC 273 pay-per-view broadcast.

“The fight between Cub Swanson and Dooho Choi is one of the greatest fights of all time,” UFC President Dana White said in a statement. “This fight was an absolute war for all three rounds and both guys left everything they had inside the Octagon, it was crazy!”
Swanson vs. Choi will be inducted at the Hall of Fame ceremony in July during the UFC’s International Fight Week. The class of 2022 will be headlined by the induction of unbeaten former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, whose induction was announced last month at UFC 272.
