Moeen Ali becomes 16th player to achieve elite record – Check Full List featuring Three Indians

The veteran player has now become only the 4th Englishman and 16th player in the world to score 3000 runs and pick up 200 wickets in Test matches. The England player broke his retirement to play in the Ashes and so far has fared well.

Moeen already had 200 wickets to his name before the Test match, but his 54-run knock in the first innings took him past 3000 Test runs as the 36-year-old now has 3031 runs in the longest format of the game.

After the achievement, Moeen has now joined some prestigious names of World Cricket who have achieved the same.

Moeen Ali became the 16th player to achieve the record. England have more representatives than any other nation in the group of elite all-rounders after Moeen broke the previous tie with New Zealand.

The Black Caps have three names on the list in Sir Richard Hadlee, Chris Cairns and Daniel Vettori.

South Africa and India have two apiece – Shaun Pollock and Jacques Kallis for the former and Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin for the Indian side.

The remaining five players are the solitary representatives of their nation.

West Indies great Sir Garry Sobers was the first to achieve the feat, with Imran Khan following as Pakistan’s sole representative.

Australia spinner Shane Warne, Sri Lanka seamer Chaminda Vaas and Bangladesh’s former captain Shakib al Hasan complete the list.

Kallis has by far the most runs of the 16 players with 13,289, over 5,000 clear of Sobers (8,032). Only Kapil Dev and Ian Botham complete the list having 5000+ Test runs.
